Impact Metrics and Data Provision¶
Overview¶
Digital Science will support you in significantly enhancing your internal tools and resources by supplying detailed reach, influence, and engagement metrics for in-scope scientific articles, including timelines, demographics, and sentiment analysis (depending on the attention source).
Scope¶
Data Provision¶
This provision enables access to relevant Dimensions and Altmetric data (including citations, Altmetric scores, sentiment scores, aggregate data, and field-normalized metrics) for agreed therapeutic areas in scope, for your internal use as part of an agreed internal platform or tool. For the therapy areas in scope, data relating to publications funded or authored by you, and those funded or authored by up to five (5) defined competitors, will be included.
Customer inputs required¶
You will provide:
- Disease definitions
- Optionally, search strings defining disease- and treatment-specific publication cohorts
- Lists of competitors and associated drugs/interventions for comparator sets
You will have the opportunity to provide feedback and one round of refinement to the therapy area and disease definitions prior to implementation of the data pipeline.
Timeline¶
Initial data availability is expected within four weeks of you providing competitors and keywords for the selected therapy areas, subject to any clarifications needed by Digital Science, which will extend the delivery timeline accordingly.
Key Details¶
- Data points and metrics in scope are described in the tables below.
- Frequency of updates for data points and metrics is described in the tables below.
- Benchmarks and normalised scores enable like-for-like performance comparison by providing benchmark values and normalised scores for each engagement and citation metric, calibrated against peer publications in the same year, content type, and therapeutic area. Benchmark values are calculated as the average for publications in the same publication year, content type, and therapeutic area; normalised scores are calculated by dividing the raw metric value by the corresponding benchmark value; an adjusted percentile rank is provided for each metric, indicating where the publication falls relative to peers.
- Data points, metrics, and frequency of updates are subject to change at Digital Science's discretion.
This data will provide you with the ability to:
- Understand the reach, engagement, and impact of your publications, and that of your competition
- Analyze reach, engagement, and impact over time to understand when interventions are being effective
- Aggregate the above by partners, authors, and KOLs for deeper analysis
- Drill into journal performance, and how well journals are delivering performance across a range of omnichannels
- Understand how sentiment towards your publications and molecules is shifting over time, as expressed on social media networks
Delivery Format and Frequency¶
Data is made available through a secure API that allows users to query file availability via timestamps and download the underlying datasets, which will contain data for in-scope publications authored by you and up to five competitors. After initial implementation, updated data will be made available according to the frequency described in the tables below, for the term of the agreement.
Project Management¶
While implementation is ongoing, project management may include, as agreed by you and Digital Science:
- A kick-off meeting within two weeks of signing
- Bi-weekly project check-ins to review progress during the implementation phase, not to exceed 6 meetings
- Quarterly check-ins during the maintenance phase
- A primary point of contact from Digital Science who will lead communications, schedule meetings, and coordinate delivery of the project
- A primary point of contact designated by you, who will lead communications, schedule meetings, and coordinate delivery of your inputs and feedback
