A live walkthrough of the Explorer API: paste an authenticated Research Outputs query URL and the page fetches the results, draws eleven charts that summarise the publications, and lists every paper with its Altmetric badge.

The demo runs entirely in your browser. No data is sent anywhere except to www.altmetric.com to fulfil the query.

How to get a query URL

  1. Sign in to the Altmetric Explorer.
  2. Use the advanced search to build the set of research outputs you want.
  3. Open the Research Outputs tab.
  4. Click Export this tab, then Open results in API.
  5. Copy the URL from your browser's address bar. It already contains the digest and key needed to authenticate the request.
